Getting outdoors easy in backyard

Not everyone likes to get away to the Great Outdoors by trekking off for miles and miles to one little scenescape. Some like to relax in their backyards and spot the critters that inhabit their “Great Outdoors.”

The makers of Father Nature bird feeders have come up with some equipment that could get you started on your way to an outdoor wildlife haven right in your backyard – at least more than what some may have now.

According to howtoattractbirds.com, small birds eat almost constantly during daylight hours in the winter. Migratory songbirds need large amounts of food for varying amounts of time, often just a day or two.

Creating a garden that welcomes songbirds, hummingbirds, and butterflies is a relatively simple task. It consists of supplying them with three basic requirements for survival: food, cover and water.

Feeding birds is a pastime the entire family can enjoy. Father Nature Bird feeders can add elegance to your yard or garden while bringing wildlife up close for your viewing pleasure. Their patented adjustable perches along with proper seed selection let you decide just what birds to feed.

Many low priced seed mixtures contain far too much Milo, a round reddish seed. This is a valid seed for western birds but in the east, Milo goes uneaten and should be avoided.

A good combination for many species is Black Oil Sunflower Seeds and Millet. Cracked corn is also good for many desirable birds but also attracts blackbirds, cowbirds, and grackles. Father Nature’s patented adjustable perches can be positioned to force larger birds to get a seed and go,
rather than sit comfortably and eat more than their share.

Establishing a small wildlife sanctuary in your backyard will reward you by attracting a variety of birds and butterflies for you to enjoy viewing. Many will visit, and some may actually stay to nest and rear their young in your backyard.
